What drills is BullseyeBore Core compatible with?

BullseyeBore Core and the accessories were designed with the goal of working with most common standard electric drills and drill chucks.

As a general guide for drill compatibility, BullseyeBore Core will work with most common commercial electric drills that meet the following conditions:

  1. The drill chuck face is metallic and flat. The “chuck face” is the very front of the chuck.
  2. The drill chuck is a common keyed, keyless, or a standard ¼” hex shank chuck.
  3. The drill chuck has a bit hole of less than or equal to 0.56” diameter.
  4. The maximum drill RPM is equal to or less than 2500 RPM.

Will BullseyeBore Core work with SDS/Rotary Hammer drills?

BullseyeBore Core is designed to work with thousands of common commercial electric drills including some impact drivers. However, unlike most common commercial drills, SDS drills and most Rotary Hammer drills have a composite chuck so the magnetic connection with BullseyeBore Core does NOT work. We are considering development of an adapter specifically for certain SDS drills that will enable integration with BullseyeBore Core, but we do not have any sort of timeline.

Will BullseyeBore Core work in sunlight?

This is the first version of the product so it uses a low power Class 2 laser that can run off two disposable coin cells. Class 2 lasers are eye safe as defined under US regulations and are thus very low in output power. The Red versions work great indoors, and the Green versions work in bright indoor conditions and typically in INDIRECT sunlight. Class 2 lasers are difficult to see in direct sunlight, so we recommend against it.

Can BullseyeBore Core be used with very large timbers?

This version of BullseyeBore Core is designed as a general-purpose version to support bit lengths between 2” and 8”. You may be able to use a slightly longer bit with the use of our Chuck Extensions Accessory (available to order as an add-on during our post-campaign survey), but we advise no longer than 10”.

This is for two reasons: First, the Alignment pattern gets larger in diameter with longer drill bits. The fixed Reference Pattern, however, remains the same diameter. If the two sets of patterns are too far apart, then it’s more difficult to see the concentricity of the circular patterns. Second, if the Alignment Pattern is too large, it won’t fit on the worksurface. Another challenge is drill rotation speed. Drill RPM must be above ~300 rpm to see BullseyeBore’s alignment patterns.

How is BullseyeBore Core powered?

BullseyeBore Core uses two disposable 357 or two LR444 coin cell batteries. Both batteries are mounted with the negative side pointing down towards the circuit board. We recommend the use of either Energizer 357 or Duracell 357 batteries. Standard LR44 coin cell batteries typically work with BullseyeBore Core, but do not provide as much battery life (durational use) as either Energizer 357 or Duracell 357 batteries.

How long will the battery last?

Your battery life depends on which model you’re using. The Core Red models use a red laser that uses less power, giving you a longer battery life (~9 hours), and works great in indoor conditions.

The Core Green models use a 520nm green laser that is easier to see in bright indoor conditions or indirect sunlight, but has a shorter battery life (~2.5 hours) than the Core Red models.

I've seen ads for BullseyeBore Core through other websites at a lower price. Are those legitimate?

As we have gained more attention, we’ve noticed several fake websites and ads that are using our product images and videos. These ads and websites claim to sell BullseyeBore Core (several of these websites refer to it as simply “#theCore”).

We want to assure you that BullseyeBore Core is patented and there are no knockoffs or resellers. We are only offering the Core on Kickstarter, starting January 30th and continuing through February.

If you see a fake ad on Facebook or Instagram, please report it. This can typically be done by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner of the ad and marking it as a scam or fraudulent. This is important because it can prevent others from falling prey to these scams.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
